- During the work in poor communities, our volunteers identify the need, as in the case of Henry (27 years old), who suffers from sudden paralysis due to GBS. Through sponsorship, we were able to deliver a much-needed wheelchair to him, and for the first time in 18 months, Henry was able to sit in the sun. He is a recipient of our monthly food/hygiene packages.
- We meant a group of jobless youth who had registered a society in hopes of starting a small business venture. So with the help of sponsors and our teammates, we launched a self-help project for this group of 25 young people. With donated sacks of environment-friendly briquettes made from sugar cane waste create an income-generating source. The product is fuel-efficient, and to boost their efforts, a mkokoteni (push-cart) for transporting goods has been supplied for the team. One Family Care volunteer is helping to organize the logistics, and already the project is off to a good start.
