Clean Water Projects
Esahn Family Assistance, Thailand
We have done quite a lot of volunteer work in the more rural areas of northeast Thailand and have seen first-hand the great demand for clean drinking water for so many of the schools we have been to. Many of the schools either have to buy 20-liter bottles of water which is difficult to handle or, even worse, some have to save rain water in large "ongs" or large clay containers and then boil it before drinking. Water is SUCH an important resource in everyone's lives that it's heart-breaking to see how difficult it is for many of these school children to get it so that's why it's so important for us to be able to provide it in a much easier way for these kids.
I'm attaching a photo of the water filter system itself (although there are 2 additional pieces that come with this unit that assist in filtering the water even more). We got this whole set; that is, including the stainless steel dispenser with 2 taps that you see in the photo for 30,000 baht (@ $ 965). That dispenser itself cost 17,000 baht which we thought was rather exorbitant just for the convenience, so what we're doing now in each case is getting the filtration system, but NOT the dispenser. We're also getting a normal water cooler like many people have in their homes so that it will still be very easy for the children to get a cup of nice, cold water. By doing this we will end up saving 10,000 baht (@ $320) So, the total cost of the above combination of water filter and water cooler (that will have a large 20 liter bottle sitting upside down on top of it), other miscellaneous pieces needed, plus labor and transportation costs will be @ $645 which, as you can see is quite a savings. To date we have installed 4 of the water filters and have funds for at least 4 more at the new, cheaper price.
We could really use your help to be able to get more of these water filters for the more rural schools. If you would like to donated please contact George Dunbar [email protected], or see their website https://www.familycare.org/global-network/asia/thailand/esahn-family-assistance/

Hands On Hope, Jordan
Not only clean water but water in general is a problem in Jordan. At one time Hands On Hope was providing water tanks but this project was discontinued because of lack of funds. If you are interested in working with them on a project like this please contact Jacki Scot
