When we see and hear about the living conditions of these people who have had to flee their homes because of constant fighting and war, it is very sobering. We see how much we are blessed in comparison and try to help them in meaningful ways. As the scriptures mention: “But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” (1 John 3:17.) Also, “And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; …That there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it.” (1 Cor. 12: 23a, 25 & 26.) It is calculated that at least 20% or more of the Karen people are Christian believers.
Thank you again for caring for them and for all who are suffering!
With much love, prayers and gratefulness to you,
John and Sarah
